Travel Insurance

As far as travel insurance goes, everyone has to book insurance independently. I apologize that this is not something we can help directly with. Here are a few pieces of information that will hopefully be helpful.

Travel insurance is not required but recommended. Most insurance policies require that you purchase their plan within 14 days of making the first payment on your trip, especially if you have a pre-existing condition. When you pay your security deposit, that “starts the clock.” There are lots and lots of options out there. Please read the fine print to make sure you understand the coverage and what each company considers a specified reason to cancel.

If you choose a “cancel for any reason,” full coverage policy, these usually cost about 10% of the entire cost of the trip.

Many credit card companies include travel insurance as a perk for doing business with them. I would encourage you to see if any of your current cards have this benefit. This option might save you a lot of money.

An independent travel agent can help you purchase a policy for a fee. Here are a few other websites to consider. We have no affiliation with them, just recommendations from people who have traveled with us previously and were happy with their plans.
